John Vachon/Library of Congress. (May 1938)
The Bank of Irwinville building was sided with a material known as “granitoid”, made in the early 1900s at the nearby Fitzgerald Granitoid Works. It stood at the corner of what is now Highway 32 and Jeff Davis Park Road. My assumption as to its location is based on the granite memorial at the right side of the front door, which is a UDC-placed Jefferson Davis Highway marker, which still stands today.
